Should I update to Oreo from Nougat in my Xperia X Compact?

I'm using Xperia X Compact with Android 7.1.1. Yesterday installed new battery. Having widely spread GPS issue when settelites lock is unstable. I'm thinking to install Android Oreo.

1. How is battery life in Oreo compared to Nougat?

2. Does Oreo fix the GPS sattelites lock isssue?

3. Does it make sense to upgrade to Oreo?

Thanx in advance!

1. Roughly the same.

2. I don't know, I don't think I had those issues on 7.1.

3. So far I'd say no.

I've updated recently from 7 to 8. So far 8 works a bit worse for me:

- Wifi takes longer to connect when I turn on the phone or go from flight mode (and has worse range).

- Tethering often fails to work properly (no internet) and I need multiple tries.

- I once had a spontaneous reboot during tethering.

- I once had some severe lag, buttons on the lock screen took like a second to respond.

- The new traffic animation in the status bar is annoying/distracting, especially if you have icons to the left of it.

The only positive I can think of is that on 8.0 you can disable the low battery warnings, especially the one that starts at 15% and can't be removed from the lock screen on 7.1.

So far I regret updating, but maybe things will become better over time (I doubt it).

Also, the last system update was in 2018. Sony doesn't care. I probably won't buy another Sony phone again.

To be fair, though, the tethering issues might have been caused by using NetGuard, which behaves a bit differently in 7 vs 8 and in the latter doesn't require enabling subnet routing anymore...
