Sony Xperia X compact update

I bought an Xperia X Compact and started updating it with system updates.

Every 10-20 minutes a new update arrives and I have now updated it about 12 times.

Last offer of update is version: 34.4.A.2.97

My old X is on Android 8.0.0

This cant be right

Hi @Liberalisten, let me see if I can be of any help here.

You might experience that if you have bought an Xperia device that is not a completely new model, there may be a few software updates available. You can either install them one by one, and restart your device after every update, or you can perform a software repair using Xperia Companion and your device will get the latest update at once.

Please note though that a software repair will erase all user data from the phone such as contacts, messages, images and so on, so make sure to do a backup any user data before proceeding with the repair.

Hi Liberalisten,

The Xperia X Compact was released in 2016. Sony has the policy to stop firmware updates 2 years after the phone model is released. The most recent (and final) firmware version is 34.4.A.2.118, which was released in september 2018.

When you buy a new X Compact out of the box, it will have an old firmware version, so you have to do some updates. You are now on 34.4.A.2.97. There is 1 update to go (34.4.A.2.107) before you will get the final release (34.4.A.2.118).

Have fun with this phone. I'm using it for a few years now and it never disappointed me.
