Wifi authentication problem since latest update

Hi.

I am having problems with my Sony Xperia Compact X ever since the latest update (2-3 weeks ago), and now I keep getting authentication problems every time I try to connect to my home wifi. If I am lucky enough to connect after several attempts (and also resisted to smash my phone to the ground from frustration!), the wifi drops after only a few minutes, and the signal bar says there's poor signal, despite the fact that I am standing right in front of the router.

This was never an issue before, so any help will be greatly appreciated. I got a new router installed yesterday, and my computer connects to wifi with no problems.
Not sure if relevant, but I have no problems connecting to public wifi, only secured networks.

Anybody able to help out?

My wifi is still dropping frequently and it's getting on my nerves..

It stays connected for a few minutes, then it disconnects and seems to be having trouble connecting again.. says authentication problem, and that my wifi is disconnected (which it clearly isn't because my laptop is connected).

Help is greatly appreciated!

When you installed the new router, did you give it the exact same SSID (network name) and password as your old router had? People do this thinking that it will save them time because their devices wont need to be reporgrammed, but the problem is they can have issues with connectivity because even though the new wireless has the same name and password as the old one it really isn't the "same" network.

Also, if you have a dual-band router, make sure the 2.4 ghz network and the 5 ghz network do not have the same name. They can be the same and have one say "5g" at the end, I just mean, if your network name is "MyWifi", don't have them both set to "MyWifi" with no differentiation between the two.

I recommend you:

1) "Forget" the wireless network on your phone (which deletes the saved settings profile on the device).

2) Reboot your wireless router (unplug power for 30 seconds), regardless of if other devices are having no issues.

3) Reboot your phone.

4) Try to connect again to the network from scratch (you'll have to reenter your wireless password).

I'm having the same problem and it's extremely frustrating and very annoying to constantly have to restart my phone in order for it to connect to wifi.

I have tryed different options to try to replicatie the problemen. Send it to Sony, did not help. Begin next year I will resend is to sony again with lots if informatie

The work around is to on/off flightmode.

Save a lot of time then reboot.

Its a communication problemen because Bluetooth is also infected

Same here.

WiFi does not connect properly, especially on weak signal. Under the WiFi said it mentions 'saved'

Already did some router and device reboots. Problem remains.

Xperia X

In my case it turned out to be a router problem.

This Dutch KPN Experia 10 router has a software problem and the provider cannot change it at the moment.

Solution: Switching of 5G and just live with 2.4G

Both the Bluetooth and the wifi are terrible. I've already factory reset the phone to get rid of the update which I was told was causing the issues with the Bluetooth/Wifi and it automatically updates on its own. This will be the last Sony phone I purchase.
