folks,
after over two years of happines with my X Compact, wifi is just giving me a headacke. It happens that it has gone off and it doesnt even show me networks available. It started a few months ago turning itself off once in a while, but now it has just gone off and when I try to turn it on it goes back off. I have reset everything, research the internet, etc, and here I am, no wifi, and no idea what else to do.
Any guessings?
you might want to backup everything with your phone and repair it with Xperia Companion, assuming that you've restarted the phone to see if that solves the issue.
Thank you for replying.
Considering the bad reputation Xperia Companion has online, any other option out there??
Sony does not give about this
Don't know where you have got that bad reputation from.
I can assure you that it is a secure and straightforward way to reagange the lot and make your device run as new.
One thing: Don't restore the complete backup.
Just restore the most urgently needed apps.
You will be rewarded with speed and reliability.
ok.
Im going to try that right now.
This morning the phone just turn up to not have data to use when its suposed to have more than enough.
I will keep you posted, oh master
now,
after backing up, reset my phone to the very basics to start from scratch, the phone is just not getting connected to any mobile service, also not showing me any wifi available to get connected to.
Does not matter if I try to set it up as new or copy my data from the back up, nothing.
thank you for your help Strampke.
The phone keeps doing right the same thing again and again. This is, wifi goes off by itself and when I try to switch it back on it goes off again.
On the hunt again for a solution
Ok, a big chance that it has something to do with hardware.
However, you can check.
First open the support app.
In it you can find tests. (Lower right corner)
Test WiFi and SIM card. (maybe more if you like)
Next is APN settings for mobile network.
Goto your providers site and find settings for APN and edit in settings-network & internet-mobile network and check if mobile data is set to on.
Tap on access point names and check all settings of they are like provided on your providers website.
If not then create a new APN (tap the +) edit and tap the 3 dots to save.
Then select your new APN.
See if you can get mobile network up and running.
Just to clarify this part

Did you reset the phone through the phone's settings menu or through Xperia Companion?
