My Sony Xperia Z1 was Entered by water!

Hey guys, I'm always a Sony Fans.

Recently, I've purchased a Sony Xperia Z1 for over 2 months. At first, I tested my phone underwater that my speaker's volume turns low although it's the largest I've tune. And the volume recover back after few hours (as I think that the holes of the phone was entered by water).

But the problem turns into more serious, my phone volume just remain low for more than a week after I'm having underwater shooting. And until yesterday, the problem even worse, my phone was entered by water!

My phone was suddenly dropped into a pail of water and after I get it out of that pail, the phone's front camera and back camera was full of steam! OMG, I can't believe my eye!

My first action is to telephone the local Sony Xperia Hotline but it's out from office hours, so I can't leave the voice message or any history for them to prefer me back. So I used to email to questions.my@support.sonymobile.com.

But today (21st Jan 2014), I received the replied email from Sony that the problem is not under warranty! OMG! I've checked the previous record of forum that all them are claimed for warranty successfully and one of them get 1 to 1 exchange by Sony! the content of email are as below:-

I'm really angry with the service performance, so I called the customer service once again today but the customer service direct me to another department (Electrical Appliances department if not wrong). I've confirmed with them that the case will be identified after sending of phone to service centre.

Well, Sony Service Centre will produce report after they've done checking. But I'm scared that they will not entertain my case. And also, how if they make the report which is not benefit to me? Anyone can guarantee? because I've lost confidence with Sony after all this happened on me!

VincenTech here, Funny you should choose now to reply. I got a message from Sony through the BBB, they basically said our tests conclided no, you're wrong. You did break it twice now shut up and stop breaking phones. We consider this case closed and won't reply from you anymore. Seriously! They even contradicted their own testimony in explaining how I'm wrong in mine, which is water tight, no pun intended. They NEED taken to court and I need to know whose head to go over. I need help, not for me but for everyone this happened to. A case identical to mine in South Africa resulted in the phone no longer legally being called waterproof as officially deemed by the Advertising Standard Authority. Am I to understand America's standards are lower than that? Enough is enough. They're begging for a class action suit and begging to lose it.

Dude, really? Can you at least pretend to notice all off the people who want fixed phones due to water damage. Claim is made based on a flap that is either red or white. I found out that the speakers on the bottom don't have good integrity. My flaps are fine but my speakers have dented in so much do to the amount of time I've used it in water. Such as lakes and pools. My friends pokers haven't really dented at all because it's a new phone but it is already water damaged. I feel as if we'd both be satisfied with new phones. But realistically I'm just going to get another message from some expert that say some stuff. Hey, just saying I'd be greatful and satisfied with this service. Then will I continue to love you Sony!

im only used it around 10minutes only in water..

now my z1 cant be start!!!

so can my z1 claims under warranty??

I trust you had all the flaps closed as well. Well it doesn't matter. If water broke the waterproof phone Sony's going to say it's your fault. They told the New York BBB they'd cease communication on my case altogether.. I'm contacting lawyers now for class action. Far too many people are falling victim to ignore. I upgraded to the Xperia Z3 using JUMP, but I'll keep fightimg for who was hurt.

i too got the same issue. i washed my handset after ensuring all blanks are closed . After few hours both camera lens start showing fog and after one week entire handset stopped. Now service centre saying it is not repairable even when it is under-warranty. I purchased it of 34000 and sony giving me just 20% discount on new handset.

 Sony not standing on its promises, sony shows its handset are waterproof but when problems comes they said it is just water resistent. How a waterproof handset can got water entered when all blanks are closed.

I am having the same problem with sony, what is unexplainable to me is that after the phone stopped working i noticed that the back cover was somewhat disattached and you could pull the lateral strip literally out of the phone and see inside... Yet sony has the courage to say the phone was oxidated by water due to non comform use of the device,by me.... Absurd... Disgusting. they claim their technicians have made tests...they don't explain what kind of tests or the results of this tests and their emails are clearly written to avoid explanation...what kind of company does this to their clients...

I know exactly what you're talking about, the upper left around the battery door. Before I turned it into T Mobile for JUMP I could get my finger nail in there, it could've came right off.

what to do in this cases? it was definitely from there that the water entered...but sony today said to me that since it was open i should not have immerged it...how stupid is that i replied if i noticed it was open before i immerged the phone i would have sent it for repair before the phone died don't you think? unbelievable...i'm left speechless.
