WiFi Hotspot not working after JB update :(

So, as the title says, the WiFi Hotspot feature isnt working after the Jelly Bean update Crying_Face I have rebooted the phone several times, including cold reboot, holding down power & volume up, but its still not working. I have also tried using a different network names and passwords, but still nothing. I was perfectly able to use the hotspot feature before the JB update, used it everday to connect to my tablet.

All other features work so far on my phone, tho i havent tried the walkman app.

Please fix....please

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. I had to confirm before going for this one. This is because there were some online rumours saying that Sony Xperia T does not support tethering in any of its ROM versions. Hence I wanted to confirm if the official ROM ICS version supports tethering or not....

Thanks & Regards !!!!!!

Not really experienced with mobile phones but bought xperia t for tethering functionality to hopefully replace my landline & broadband. Signed up with 3 network and am having no luck with tethering.

It worked intermittently on the first day but even then I got the error "tethering error - mobile network data connection lost" most of the time when I tried to enable the portable wi-fi hotspot. Now I get that error every time.

I've been speeking to 3 and after a lot of attempts to change setting etc. on the phone, they inform me it is probably the phone software as I can use the browser OK so tethering should work. Is that advice correct? They did say to take my sim to a three store and try other phones with it to confirm this.

I installed Sony PC Companion on my PC and this installed version 7.0.A.3.195 of the software on my phone.

Can anybody please help in layman terms.

Did you update your Firmware after getting the phone from 3 mobile????

Is that not the same thing as installing software version 7.0.A.3.195? If not then I didn't. How do I do that?

As far as I have heard, if the ROM version is not altered (by this, I mean the first default ROM version), then you can still use the tethering functionality. BTW, I believe 7.0.A.3.195 is not the default ROM version that comes with Xperia T. It should have been 7.0.A.1.303. Three mobile is updating this ROM version and then supplying it to the customers.

Have a word with them and let me know how it goes....

Thanks. I'll speak to 3 about the firmware versions, but it was Sony PC Companion that I was running when the software was uploaded to the phone so it didn't come from 3.

Also let me know your current ROM version number. Under settings> about phone> build Number. And see if you could delete and set a new APN settings with the help of 3 mobile

settings> about phone> build Number = 7.0.A.3.195

I've tried updating the APN, both to what I found here and what 3 told me to change it to. No luck.

I've found lots of different versions of firmware here but am getting into unknown territory if I start trying to regress to 7.0.A.1.103. I'd only really want to try that if I knew it was definately going to work.

OK, I've been messing around, totally out of my depth, trying to update my firmware.

I've tried to upload 9.1.A.0.492 (from here) using FlashTool64 but get an error " (X10flash.java:375) - Error flashing. Aborted ". I haven't a clue what is going wrong but have noticed that Sony say there is an even newer version 9.1.A.140 and was hoping I can do it without using FlashTool.

I want to try the latest version before regressing to 7.0.A.1.303 and am wondering why PC Companion is telling my my firmware is the latest @ 7.0.A.3.195.

Could this be something to do with the fact that my phone was originally locked to T-Mobile but I unlocked it and am using a 3 mobile sim card?

I'm also wondering about all the talk about boot loader unlocking. I can't make sense of that at the moment. Is this something I have to do to upload using FlashTool? I've seen people saying you have to do this and others saying you don't.

Any help appreciated.
