Xperia SP WIFI range ISSUE

Hi, i have just bought Sp 2 days back

I am facing wifi range problem the device does not catch the range where my other phone catches the range at good wifi signal strength.

the distance is like 3 to 5 meters less then my black berry

Is there any settings that i need to see for the wifi range.

I have also the same problem... (Xperia SP)

My wifi operating @ 2.4 GHz. Is there any option in mobile fone to select the operating frequecy like 2.4 or 5 Ghz!!

Issue is definately with the phones, all other wifi devices i use have between 5 - 10 metre extra range, this is one tablet, 5 phones, 3 computers, the SP can't even get close to the other devices, shortest range of any device i have used, I've got 5 days to return, perhaps will have to switch samsung or HTC, trouble is i actually like the SP, please let it be a sony software issue, and please update soon.

I have mailed Sony and got a response with the advice to repair the Xperia's software using PC Companion. I did exactly this and had no results. I still have problems with range and sudden loss of connection. Although i'm pretty sure the suddden loss of connection is a software problem, i am not so sure about the range...

Sony Xperia Contact Centre replied by asking me to get in touch with my network service provider to change my wifi signal from 1 to 11. Has anyone of you tried that? Anyway, I sent them a photograph of my two Xperia SP side by side showing the big difference in the number of wifi network detected, which translated to a much shorter range for one of them.

What does that even mean? your router sets the channel number not the service provider? That sounds like a typical call center "go away and stop bothering us" advice.

With my router it is set to variable. I have also been through every available channel and setting on my router with no change.

I am getting the feeling that this is a terminal component problem that effects only a few SP devices and the only solution is a replacement device from a different batch.

Not only with Xperia SP but also with other model like Xperia S, tested and confirmed!

If Sony wants a proof kindly PM me and i'll happy to demo in front of you!

I think the "This question is Assumed Answered." needs to go aways. and un resolved or pending needs to come in.

Same problem here. My old HTC Wildfire and my Macbook have full range, my SP keeps switching between dataconnection and wifi. Definitely PENDING imo.
